FUNCTIONAL FITNESS FOR OLDER ADULTS
Do you want to get stronger, improve your mobility and prevent unnecessary deterioration in your joints, increase your ability to do everyday activities with ease and continue to participate in your interests and sports?
Age is an advantage!
This course is for anyone who considers that their body may be getting the upper hand, knows that they are motivated to change things but doesn’t know how or where to start.
We offer a unique and tailor made course that includes an initial 1 hour Physiotherapy consultation (if appropriate) followed by six one hour personal training sessions.
Your physiotherapy session will be with one of Newbury’s most experienced and well respected musculoskeletal physiotherapists. You will have the opportunity to discuss the concerns you may have about your physical abilities with your physio who will then assess your joint, bone and muscular health. You can then set the goals you want to achieve whilst incorporating and working towards overcoming any physical limitations.
Your physio will then consult with your personal trainer Ashley, to discuss any possible limitations in order for him to plan your sessions.Ashley is a highly trained personal trainer with a special interest in enabling older people to enjoy and reap the rewards of exercise. He is motivated to help people improve their functional fitness and using his knowledge and your goals will devise a personal program for you. This will include 6 fully supervised sessions together The sessions will include a warm up, specific work on the aspects of fitness relevant to you, some stretches and time to plan what you can do at home to improve your progress. Part of your last session will be used to plan how you are going to maintain your achievements once the course has finished.
This course is suitable for anyone who
– Has joint problems.
– Is overweight.
– Has been encouraged by their GP to take more exercise.
– Knows they need to be fitter but doesn’t know where to start.
– Has type 2 diabetes.
– Has controlled high blood pressure.
– Is intimidated by a gym or group exercise.
– Is a reluctant exerciser.
– Thinks they are too old to learn new tricks.
– Has taken part in cardiac rehab.
The cost of the Functional Fitness course is £300, (£240 without the Physiotherapy assessment). It will take place in our gym at The Physiotherapy Clinic. Check out our website www.physiotherapyclinicnewbury.co.uk for pictures and location.
